1. Zira is Scar's wife.
According to Darrell Rooney, Zira was originally supposed to be Scar's longtime mate, and the mother of his children Nuka, Vitani, and Kovu. However, this would've created incest between Kovu and Kiara as first cousins once removed. And this would've given Nuka and Vitani a claim to the throne, so Zira's relationship with Scar was obscured, and the storyline was changed to where Scar adopted Kovu as his heir. However, Rooney confirmed that Zira was Scar's wife.

2. Kovu is Zira's biological son. Long ago, Rooney described Kovu as an orphan. But he only said that to get Micheal Eisner, (the former CEO of Disney) off of his back, as Eisner did not like the idea of two blood-related cousins falling in love and marrying. However, he is Zira's son. As Zira is Scar's wife (see above) this would make him and his siblings, Scar's stepchildren.

3. Scar didn't adopt Kovu.
Darrell Rooney stated that Scar did not adopt Kovu as animals do not adopt. He merely made Kovu his protege.

4. Nuka and Vitani aren't Scar's kids.

Darrell Rooney confirmed that Nuka and Vitani, along with Kovu are Zira's cubs with an undisclosed mate. Also, they do not call Scar, "Dad" or "Father" implying they are not biologically related to him.

5. Kovu's father's identity revealed!
Rooney also stated that Scar allowed a group of male lions to join his Pride. Rooney explained that Scar only let them in so they could serve him, and threatened the punishment of exile if otherwise. He explained that Kovu's father could've been any of those males, and the fate of Kovu's father is up to us.

My friend, who is a YouTuber named JoshuaTV14 went onto Facebook and asked the director questions, to which he answered of these facts.
