Sad News: Gilbert Mack, voice of Pauley Cracker and Mr. Pompus (among others) in the original American Kimba, has passed away at the age of 93. A brief tribute to him can be found here.
UPDATE on the Kimba DVD set in the U.S.:
It's now available! The most often-asked question about this set is: Does it contain the ORIGINAL 1966 episodes with Billie Lou Watt as Kimba?
And the answer is YES!
From Right Stuf head Shawne Kleckner: "This will contain all 52 episodes of the series. The video quality is ABSOLUTELY IMPECCABLE. Everything is remastered and the video quality has NEVER been this good before. The opening and closing are redone, with corrected closing credits that fix the spelling of Dr. Tezuka's name (the original is included as an extra). I think fans will be pleased, the video quality is much better than any previous release."
The DVD box set will contain 11 discs. All 52 episodes will be included in their original (Japanese) broadcast order. Some of the artwork to be included with this set can be seen here. Extras will include:

GILBERT MACK (1912-2005)
Gilbert Mack passed away on December 5th at age 93. Mack was the U.S. voice of Mr. Pompus and Pauley Cracker in Kimba The White Lion and at that time was a member of Titan Productions, the New York troupe of voice actors who dubbed so many different shows, from Gigantor (he was Bob Brilliant) to Godzilla, in the 1960s. Other cartoon work to his credit includes Astroboy, The Hungry Ghost, Johnny Jupiter (he was the title character), The New Adventures of Superman (Mr. Mxyzptlk), The Superman/Aquaman Hour (Hawkman), and Superbook (SIR the Robot).
Gilbert Mack was busy on records as well, and recorded numerous Little Golden Records as various Hanna Barbera characters. He also published records of his readings of two of Edward Lear's Alphabets; an audio file of one of these can be found here.
Mack was also an accomplished singer and had been a vaudevillian, a performer in Yiddish theater, and a character actor on radio and early television - with numerous appearances on such classic shows as Dick Tracy, The Inner Sanctum, Tom Corbet Space Cadet, Theater Five, The Eternal Light, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, and Suspense. His versatility included perfecting his sound of a small dog, which won him the role of Asta, the terrier on The Adventures of the Thin Man, but unfortunately for Mack, the dog seldom appeared in the scripts! Mr. Mack returned to radio during the 1970s in Himan Brown’s CBS Radio Mystery Theater. He appeared in several episodes, including one in which he played a dog trained to kill.
On television, Mr. Mack was a character actor on such shows as Hallmark Hall of Fame, Naked City, and Car 54 Where Are You.
He appeared on Broadway in A Bell for Adano, from December 1944 to October 1945.
There are many, many other credits in Mr. Mack’s long career, but I’ll always think of him as the hot-tempered bird brain, Pauley, in Kimba.
David Hinckley of the New York Daily News adds that he played a mean ukulele.
The cause of Mr. Mack’s death is listed as "natural causes".

Da Shawne Kleckner: “Conterrà tutti e 52 gli episodi della serie. La qualità video è ASSOLUTAMENTE IMPECCABILE. Tutto è stato rimasterizzato e la qualità non è stata MAI così buona.
L'inizio e la fine sono state rifatte, con i titoli di coda corretti che riparano la scrittura del nome del Dott. Tezuka (l'originale è incluso come supplemento).
Penso che i fans saranno contenti, la qualità video è migliore di tutti i film rilasciati precedentemente.
La scatola dei DVD conterrà 11 dischi. Tutti e 52 gli episodi saranno inclusi nel loro ordine (Giapponese) originale di diffusione al pubblico.
